Candle Care

Follow these simple tips to ensure you get the most out of your candle.

Ensure your wick is trimmed to roughly 5mm before use (don’t worry after that, our pure cotton wicks are self trimming, so no horrible soot coming you way!).

Light your candle on a flat surface in a well ventilated room without draughts – this prevents sooting, and nobody wants that!

The first time you light your candle we recommend burning until the wax has formed a full pool to the edge of the jar. This prevents tunnelling. After this, please don’t leave your candle burning for more than 4 hours as it will get very hot.

Know when to say byebye. It’s time to let the little guy go when the wax has reached 1/2 inch from the bottom of the jar. This is to stop any heat damage to the surface or actual container

Always replace the lid (when it’s safe to do so of course!) to prevent dust gathering and to preserve the scent to make sure you get that first time feeling, every time.

And more importantly, never leave the candle unattended or around children and pets.

FAQ’S

Are Hot Wax candles Vegan?

They sure are. Our products are Vegan Friendly. Our plant-based wax is also sustainable. Yay!

Is your packaging suitable for recycling?

Absolutely! As a fully carbon neutral company, we’re serious about looking after our planet, and whilst we can’t change the world, we can make sure we play our part. All of our packaging has already been recycled and is completely recyclable. It’s been ethically sourced from local companies (where possible!) to minimise our carbon footprint. We’d also encourage you to reuse or upcycle your candle jar once it’s finished with (and of course been cleaned!) or return it to us and save £2.00 on your next candle purchase.

Are Hot Wax candles hand-poured?

100%! We make our candles in small, hand-poured batches. The joy of hand-pouring means no two candles are the same. You might notice small variations on the finish of each candle, but we think these make them extra special and as unique as you are.

Postage.

All of our candles are lovingly hand-packed and posted to their new home within 3 business days.

We use Royal Mail Tracked 48 within the UK. You’ll receive complimentary text and email updates. If you need your candle sooner (come on, we’ve all had that special event or birthday suddenly sneak up on us!), just drop us a message and we’ll do our best to assist.

If you spend £30.00 or more, you’ll receive free postage as an extra “thanks” from us.

Returns.

We’re sure you’ll just love your candles as much as we love making them, but if for some reason you don’t, please drop us a message on info@hotwax.shop and we’ll see how we can help.

We’ll only accept returns of unused candles and we’re not able to cover any return postage costs. But, we’re sure it won’t come to that!
